The Hill Seat was commissioned By Stour Valley Arts and the Kentish Stour Countryside Project The sculpture is carved into the banks of the path exposing the chalk subsoil of the downs. sited high up at the edge of the forest, walkers can rest out of the wind within the enclosure of the sculpture with a framed view of the landscape and sky.

The sculpture rests on North Downs Way which connects Farnham to Dover and is actually part of the original ‘Pilgrims way, charting a history back to early medieval times as many a pilgrim travelled to the Canterbury Cathedral.
